Domestic violence - (not) a topic in school?!
All children and adolescents have the right to be protected against all forms of violence. But how can protection be ensured when the violence takes place within the family?
IMPRODOVA WWU partner M.A. Paulina Juszczyk held a webinar with student teachers of the University of Muenster in Germany on the topic of domestic violence. The course was based on the training materials provided by the EU project IMPRODOVA (https://training.improdova.eu/).
The aim of the webinar was to give future teachers a better understanding of domestic violence and to show them ways of dealing with a suspected case, how to offer help and to seek support. 57 students participated and the participants stated that they had little or no knowledge on the topic of domestic violence and that this not being taught at courses. Everyone agreed that the topic should be a mandatory part of the curriculum of student teachers.
